goddamnitshera asked: Do you think Refn's point was more Carey Mulligan specific than a white women thing? And also, her character *did* need to be protected.

The Bechdel Test and Race in Popular Fiction
crystalsavestheday:
1. It has to have two POC in it.
2. Who talk to each other.
3. About something other than a white person.
No Joss Whedon show passes, neither does Supernatural, or Being Human.
Veronica Mars passes, but doesn’t pass the original Bechdel Test.

So You Think You're A Good Ally
Newsflash: Good allies don’t make this shit about them, don’t complain when people who they are allied to start criticizing them and certainly don’t make the conversation about them.

I just can’t understand the hate for Hugo Schwyzer. After years of working to improve the lives of women, he admitted freely that over a decade ago he was a scumbag, and that he knew this, and it was wrong, and he was genuinely sorry for what he had done. And despite the fact that NOW he is one of the best male feminist voices we have, people suddenly wanted him gone (or in some...

Jailbreak the Patriarchy: Or Shitty Ideas
So autumn-and-eve posted on her tumblr about an extension called “Jailbreak the Patriarchy” saying that if anyone uses it to unfollow her.
Curious, I wandered off to look at it and holy shit.
Jailbreak the Patriarchy is shit.
It’s an extension for Google Chrome. It turns all male pronouns into female pronouns and vice versa. It doesn’t take gender neutral pronouns into...

Misogyny? In MY faux-queer theory?
Seriously, even if you honestly believe that sexuality is just super fluid and that everyone’s really pansexual you have no right to say that shit to anyone.
Especially if you’re a man talking to a lesbian. Because I’ve only ever seen people tell my lesbian friends that their sexualities aren’t real, I’ve never seen someone tell my gay friends.
And if you...

The current political climate in America is baffling.

The Gaytriarchy Attacks!
Yeah, I’m always going to feel uneasy that the queer folks who profit the most (goal-wise and financially) off LGBT+ politics are white, affluent cis men when most victims of anti-LBGT+ violence are transgender, low-income women of color.
And now kids, we’re going to have a test on what intersectionality actually means!

One of the most informative and useful posts I’ve read about Hugo Schwyzer
Are Women Human? explores the implications and problems of defenses used to guard Hugo Schwyzer’s position in feminist circles. She also places emphasis on his present actions, demonstrating that Schwyzer is an ongoing threat. An excerpt:

Sometimes I see men on the feminism tag...
My self respect cannot and should not be defined by men.
Self respect isn’t defined by how many consensual sex acts I engage in, it isn’t defined in what I wear. This isn’t news to anyone who’s moved past feminism 101 and yet I need to repeat it over and over again.
So, if people submit more stories about their feminist or feminist-allied partners I’d be happy to let my other followers read them! If you’re not in a sexual relationship with your partner I’d love to hear about that as well.
That being said, I’m going to sleep so it can wait till mornin’
socialistguineapigs asked: My boyfriend is an ally and is very open to learning more about feminism. He listens to my frustrations and empathises with me. I refuse to date a man who isn't an ally or a feminist. And my sex drive is very high. So don't ever tell me that feminists and allies don't get laid.
donttypeangry asked: The sex I've had with my sensitive ally boyfriend has been the best I've ever had in my life. And I give him a hundred and ten percent, hot, passionate, uninhibited lovin'. In all sorts of positions, with all sorts of toys and what-not. It's respectful, it's enthusiastic, it's loving and it's fuelled by knowing that he cares about me as a human being. ...

Anonymous asked: I love that my boyfriend is an ally, it's incredibly sexy. A lot of the time when he and I talk on the phone, I'll start venting about feminist related topics (slut shaming, rape culture, birth control) and he'll vent with me about how frustrated it makes him. If he's not familiar with an issue, he asks me about it and is genuinely interested in learning more. He supports what...
Anonymous asked: That anon REALLY pissed me off with that "never get laid" jazz. Seriously, getting laid is the last thing on my list of priorities. Why would I be worried about getting laid? What I AM worried about is that women aren't being treated as my equal when they have every right in the world to and I don't see them as any less than that. I want women to be treated properly so fuck...
Anonymous asked: My boyfriend, while being wonderful about supporting me in my feminism, has a "What about the menz!" moment at least once or twice a month, and says as a white cis straight man he feel oppressed. It is then I inform him to "Check his privilege". I don't know why I put up with it. I really don't. But other than that, he's a damn good guy.
Anonymous asked: my boyfriend is awesome and our sex life is awesome and it gets me going when I see him reading the SCUM Manifesto, haha
jejunestarr asked: Male allies are literally the hottest people ever so idk what that anon is even talking about... Dear anon, the only men who DON'T get laid are men who aren't allies. Sexism isn't going to get you laid.
cacophonouschoas asked: To the "They never get laid" anon. 1. If we don't want to have sex with someone, it's our right. 2. Doing something "To get laid" makes you sound like a jerk. 3. I would rather have sex with an ally than with someone like you. If a man supports the feminist movement, that makes him sexy as hell in my eyes. Someone who doesn't support it has ZERO chance of getting...
Hey folks, why don’t you send me stories of your feminist partner(s) (male ally, or lady or non-binary!) and why that turns your crank - emotional, sexual or both!
lettherebecramp asked: My boyfriend, who is a wonderful male ally, would like to inform anon that he has been thoroughly fucked by his feminist girlfriend at least twice a day over the past weekend. Checkmate.
Anonymous asked: Why would any guy want to be a "Male Identified Ally"? To get yelled at and be deemed sexually inadequate by women? I know "Male allies" and they all get walked over by feminist identified women. They never get laid. Only an idiot would be a "male identified ally". Get a clue.

No True Scotsman
I get a bit anxious when white feminists talk about how no real feminists would be racist -
Uh, I agree with you but when white feminists like myself say stuff like that I can’t help but read it as white women telling women of color that their complaints of racism in feminism are invalid, because that’s not our feminism.

Anonymous asked: Hey, first, I love your blog. Second, while I find some of the satire of misandry as ryking defines it funny, I feel that yes, misandry is real, and a very valid reaction. I can understand hating all men. I was beaten on a regular basis, and for a very long time, I hated men. I got over it, but I don't blame women who hang onto it, because there's still a small part of me that hates men....
soultired asked: Can I stand in solidarity with you over that Feminazi thing? It's bullshit what they did, and that now they're expecting you, as a minority feminist, to put your feelings aside so they can feel better about a *joke*. Fuck them. You're awesome.

And before I get messages talking about how I need to stand in solidarity with other feminists;
lol no.
I get the message, quite often, that feminists shouldn’t be seen fighting. That we have to agree to take our disputes behind a veil where anti-feminists won’t see. That when we fight we are hurting our cause.
I would like to disagree. Not respectfully but with a giant neon sign...

Basically if you are fighting with Jewish feminists why your use of the swastika is acceptable because it’s a joke and we shouldn’t be mad:
I hate you. I hate you, I hate you, I hate you. I am mad at you. I am angry, do not use or defend that symbol in even a joking way.

okay, so i’ve heared romanis telling people to not use the word gypsy and comparing it with n*gga.
most black people don’t consider it a racial slur anymore because they’ve ”taken it back” and call eachother it, and when other people use it its not as offensive.
instead of complaining, why dont you just do that with the word gypsy?:-)
i’m not like, trying to offend anyone,...
